I had an error with trying to send an email (Microsoft 365) on my android phone.

The send arrow was disabled. I deleted the email account.

I tried to add the account again and now it is coming up with 'Something went wrong. {5ssai}.

    Guys,

I found the solution. I think that Microsoft screwed with the 2FA and this has caused Android devices to be untrusted and that a trust relationship must be reestablished in order for the new Auth procedures to work. Typical Microsoft whoopsie. Mass production not validating and testing their code prior to deploying to the public..

Pre-Requisite. Microsoft Authenticator is installed on your device and that your Outlook account is linked to it

Remove the Errant account from the list of accounts in Outlook and the Native Email app

    1. On your Android device.
    • Go to Settings
    • Apps
    • Look for Outlook
    • Click Storage
    • Click "Clear Cache on the bottom righthand side of the screen.
    • Open a web browser and navigate to outlook.office.com
    • Enter your email and your password.
    • Authenticator will then go thru its 2FA method and ask for the Auth number as displayed on the sign in. Enter the

    number displayed

You should now see why the error came up. Your device is not a trusted device and a question will be asked..Trust the device? Click Yes

and once everything is lined up, you will see the Welcome to Copilot and your webmail.

    • Now open your Outlook app and re-add the errant account. Click Add account select O365 Enter the email account Enter the password Outlook will now re-add the email account successfully.
    • Now do the same thing with your Native Mail app

    Everything should now work.

If after this, your email is still showing that 5ssai error then consult with your provider ot Systems Administrator for further analysis but this solution should help you guys out.

A bug in the Android system leads to a 5ssai error when trying to log in with some MS365 email accounts.

Clearing the cache or uninstalling the Outlook application will not help.

You need to add the account through Settings on your Android phone > Accounts and backup > Manage accounts > then Add account, pick Outlook, and insert account credentials.

    1. I had this problem with a new Samsung phone. The old Samsung phone works fine
    2. Some additional text to the error as follows:

    **Message:**The operation attempted is invalid.

    **Tag:**5ssai

    **Code:**884576759

    Any help appreciated.
