Hi Gina,
Thanks for writing us here in Microsoft Community.
I understand you're experiencing issues with syncing your Gmail sent items to Outlook. I know the importance of having those sent emails reflecting on your account. Allow me to help in any way I can. Let's work as a team together.
To better assist you, I'd like to clarify the following.
- Can you confirm if you are using the Outlook Classic or Outlook New version?
- This is how the New Outlook looks like: Getting started with the new Outlook for Windows - Microsoft Support
- When did the issue start and what changes have you made on the account so far?
- May we know if the Gmail account configuration is POP, or IMAP?
- Can you confirm what Office license are you using? Is it Microsoft 365 Personal/Family, Business, Enterprise, or Education?
While waiting for your confirmation, here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue. *(*Note: The options we will share below if for Classic Outlook version. If you are using Outlook New, please send us a reply immediately.)
- Check Gmail Settings:
- In a web browser, go to Gmail.com.
- Click on the gear icon (⚙️) in the top right corner and select Settings.
- Go to the Labels tab.
- Ensure that “Show in IMAP” is selected for the following labels: Inbox, Sent Mail, Trash, and All Mail.
- You can also select “Show in IMAP” for any other labels you want to see in Outlook or Mail for Windows 10.
- Check if the Gmail account is properly added to Outlook.
- Go to File > Account Settings > Account Settings > Email tab. Make sure that the Gmail account is listed and properly configured.
- Check if the "Save copies of messages in the Sent Items folder" option is enabled in Outlook.
- Go to File > Options > Mail > Save messages section.
- Make sure that the option is checked.
- Check if the Gmail account is properly configured to save sent items.
- Log in to your Gmail account and go to Settings > Accounts and Import > Send mail as.
- Make sure that the "Save copies of sent messages in the Sent Items folder" option is checked.
- Repair Outlook:
- Open the Control Panel on your PC.
- Click on Programs, then Programs and Features.
- Find Microsoft Office and click Change.
- Select Repair and continue following the prompts.
- After the repair is finished, try the sync again.
- Check IMAP Settings in Outlook:
- Make sure the folder “Sent Items” is subscribed.
- Confirm that “Don’t save copies of sent items” is unchecked.
- Set the root folder path to “INBOX”
- Try removing and re-adding the Gmail account in Outlook.
- Go to File > Account Settings > Account Settings > Email tab.
- Select the Gmail account and click Remove.
- Then, click New and follow the prompts to add the account again.
These are the initial steps we can perform for now, Gina! If you run into a problem or if you need further assistance, do let me know so we can explore other options.
Sincerely,
Froilance T.
