White board and screen share issues with student

Hi,

I tried using the white board today with a student.  I had previously practiced with a co-worker.  It seems that when I or my student hits share screen and then clicks white board a basic version pops up.  There is a pop up screen that asks if we want to download whiteboard app, use whiteboard app or continue with teams whiteboard.  I found the teams whiteboard to be very limiting.  So i'm trying to do the open in app feature but it's not seamless for my students with disabilities to use.  I noticed that I was able to see the galaxy pen writings, but then I moved the screen and saw that what I was typing was appearing on the first share screen.  This isn't helpful.  I want the student to see the galaxy pen and use the ruler and experience the re-veal and the spotlight.  Also, once we went back to using the basic version of whiteboard, we I noticed that there was a lag time between what I or my student wrote and when the other person can see it especially the text feature. There was also an issue when I stopped sharing my screen, my student couldn't see me anymore.  We even tried me leaving and coming back but they couldn't see me.  I realized there were now two windows of the teams meeting from when I shared my screen. How can I easily go between sharing my screen/whiteboard back to video.  Lastly, when my student is sharing his whiteboard or any screen, how do I stop him?  There was no stop presenting option since he was sharing not me.

Thanks,

Melissa

    Hi Melissa,

Thank you for posting. Regarding the query stop student sharing. Since by default when adding participants to a Teams Meeting they are added as Presenters. Therefore, they are able to share their screen. As a workaround if you are meeting organizer can change their roles from Presenter to Attendee. After changing them to attendee they can't share their screen. For detailed information, see Roles in a Teams meeting

About download whiteboard app issue you can send feedback directly to the Microsoft Whiteboard team by tapping the Settings button and choosing Send Feedback. This will open the Microsoft Feedback hub, where you can enter information about the issue you’ve encountered and provide a screenshot.

Moreover, lag time issue on basic version of whiteboard you may visit the link to submit your feedback on Microsoft Teams UserVoice. Your feedback is very important and we appreciate the time you take to share them with us. Our developer team regularly reviews the forum and rectify in the future product updates.
