Hello, Aditya Kisan
Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A
Thanks for your feedback. I read your description of the problem and I understand the confusion it caused you.
First, we need to clarify a very important fact. The key you see ending with 9d6t9 is a very famous "Universal Volume License Key" for Windows 10 Pro.
This key is mainly used by large organizations and enterprises for batch activation with their internal KMS (Key Management Service) servers. It is also often used as a "placeholder" during the installation or upgrade process to install or upgrade the system to the Professional version.
It cannot activate Windows by itself. After using this key, the system will try to connect to a KMS server to complete the activation. For individual users, since you do not have such a server, the system will always be in an unactivated state, and the "Activate Windows" watermark will always be displayed in the lower right corner of the desktop.
You mentioned that you want to upgrade to the latest version of Windows, but Microsoft has stopped selling digital licenses for Windows 10 directly to consumers through its official website on January 31, 2023. Currently, the officially recommended and sold operating system is Windows 11.
In order to upgrade your system and permanently remove the watermark, the most correct and permanent way is to purchase a new Windows 11 license.
I hope my answer is helpful to you.
