I recently came into a new touch screen asus laptop. I work for a repo company and the owner of the laptop never came to get the computer. I don't like the idea of the owners personal information getting out. so I wanted to do a factory reset on the computer. however it is locked in security mode and wont let me enter the laptop without using the last password used to access the computer. as I don't know the owner, I have no way of getting said password. how can I go about resetting this computer to the factory settings? I don't care if it wipes everything off the computer. that is the end goal in the long run, but is still want windows 8 running when I'm finished.

    Hi,

This is how to use the Asus Recovery process.

"What to do if you forget your Windows 8/8.1 password"

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/what-do-forget-windows-password#1TC=windows-8

If you've forgotten your Windows password, there are several ways to retrieve or reset it:

    • If your PC is on a domain, your system administrator must reset your password.
    • If you're using a Microsoft account, you can reset your password online. For more info, go to the Reset your password webpage.
    • If you're using a local account, use your password hint as a reminder.

If you've tried these suggestions and still can't sign in:

    • If you have Windows 8.1, you'll need to reinstall Windows.
    • If you have Windows RT 8.1, you'll need to contact your PC manufacturer.

The computer is locked with some sort of extra security saying it needs the last used password. However as I stated above I just got this thing. So the user and stuff is not for my email. What do I do.
