    Hi, Shruti Gupta

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

We understand that you are experiencing computer slowdown after formatting your computer, what problem did you previously encounter that caused you to format your computer?  Which disk did you format? The phenomenon about your computer running slower after formatting can be related to many reasons, such as:1. Virus infectionIf there is a virus or system vulnerability before the hard disk is formatted, the virus or vulnerability may still exist after the data is formatted, thus slowing down the hard disk's working speed.2、System reasonsAfter formatting, the recovery system or software may need to rewrite the hard disk, which is time-consuming, and the complex operating system and network software will take up more processor and memory resources, thus reducing the read and write speed of the hard disk.3、PartitioningThe hard disk is divided into multiple partitions respectively to achieve multiple uses, fragmented small files when copying and storing may lead to the degree of file fragmentation, thus reducing the hard disk reading speed.4、Equipment problemsWith the prolonged use of hard disk, the hard disk surface will be aging, mechanical wear and tear, electrical components aging and other issues, and these lead to a reduction in hard disk reading speed. In this regard, it is recommended that you try the following programs first:1. Install the necessary drivers: Make sure that you install the latest drivers for your laptop's hardware components (such as the graphics card, network adapter, and chipset). You can download these drivers from the manufacturer's website.2. Close unwanted startup itemsRight-click on the Task Manager and select the “Startup” tab, where you can turn off your unwanted startup software to improve startup speed.3. Try to use chkdsk to detect the disk.1. Click Win+X to open “Command Prompt (Administrator)”.2. In the Command Prompt window, type chkdsk <disk letter>: /fFor example, to check and repair partition D:chkdsk D: /fEnter to start the chkdsk disk checker to scan partition D. Checking other partitions is similar.Note: Please check the disk other than the C drive first, check the C drive need to reboot to perform, type Y, and then press the Enter key!*Disclaimer: Running chkdsk can check the file system and file system metadata of a volume for logical and physical errors. To avoid any trouble for you, do not cancel or interrupt chkdsk, and back up important data.*More information please refer to this chkdsk | Microsoft Learn.4. Try to repair the system1. Search for CMD, find the command prompt, and select Run as administrator mode.2. Enter the following commands one by one, and be sure to execute the next command after the previous one is completed.DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealthDISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealthDISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealthSFC /Scannow3. After the scan is complete, you can check the scanning information to see if the problem has been detected and fixed. If you still have questions, please feel free to contact us.
