Strange musical note has shown up next to my search bar, its only there when using YOUTUBE. Realplayer no longer downloads after "note" appeared

Just over a month ago (4-28-25 )a strange "MUSICAL NOTE" suddenly appeared next to my search bar at the top of the screen. The more i paid attention so far it only pops up when I use YOUTUBE. If I click on it, it shows the video/music with minimum controls. This is a bother in itself but since this has happened my real player WILL NOT allow me to download anything. I want the "musical note" and whatever software to be deleted and things back to normal. Can anyone help

    Hello,

    Welcome to the Microsoft community.

    I understand that when you visit YouTube, a musical note appears, preventing you from using RealPlayer to download. 

    Could you please provide a screenshot of the musical note? This doesn't seem to be a native feature of Edge.

    Possibility 1: Browser plugin interference (recommended to check first)

    1. Enter InPrivate mode for detection
      • Shortcut: Ctrl+Shift+N
      • Or click the Edge menu → New InPrivate window
    2. Disable/uninstall plugins
      • Enter in the address bar: edge://extensions
      • Or click the Edge menu → Extensions → Manage Extensions
      • Turn off all extensions related to music, downloads, or YouTube enhancement one by one.

    Possibility 2: May have triggered original music copyright protection

    If you can't download videos when using InPrivate mode or other browsers to visit YouTube, this might be the cause.

    Here's a screen shot of the task bar with the new "musical note" ,

    As you can see its next to the "favorites" button. I've checked extensions, I tried to look through YT software.

    That's Edge's new Global Media Control. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be any way to disable it. The flags to disable it no longer exist (edge://flags/#global-media-controls).

    Why did they remove the disable button in the first place? It doesn't make sense. Also, why didn't they bother adding it first before releasing it, in case people hated it?

    After getting the message telling me that the "FLAG" had been removed, I began looking and found the "note" hadn't been added less than a couple of months. Strange they would suddenly remove it from the FLAG page. I'm going to keep looking! Just more added junk we don't want or need!

     Not sure if you've seen the "FLAG" page but there is a huge number of items that they have running that we had no idea of!
