Edge on iPad Pro - unable to download PDFs properly

Hi dear people,

I am using Edge on an iPad running the latest iOS (for detailed specs, see below).

It happened twice to me that, when downloading a PDF, Edge downloaded two files, one textfile with the title of the PDF and the actual PDF, which is unreadable and shown as having a filesize of 0 kb.

I took the following steps: I tapped on the PDF to make the ribbon appear which says „Open with…“ (in blue font) //-> I tapped „Open with…“ //-> I then tried several options, my favorite being trying to download it to my icloud. Always with the same result: two files, PDF corrupted.

I then alternatively tapped the three dots in the upper right corner //-> then „sharing with“ (the box with the arrow) //-> and also tried several options - to no avail.

I need to mention that I can download PDFs from the web just fine, the error occurred only when a PDF was generated for me, more precisely: postage labels and a confirmation for registering to postal vote.

As I never had any problems with this on Safari, you can probably imagine what an unpleasant surprise it to discover that you cannot download such important documents, nor copy & paste the link (as it is not valid on any other device), nor print them. In the case of the postage labels this caused quite some inconvenience for me.

Does anyone else have this problem, or might someone even have a solution for this?

Kind regards.

iOS 14.7.1 (latest)

-Hi, my name is Claudeir, I'm happy to help you!

We will reinstall Edge to avoid any problems.

    Uninstall Edge, then go to:

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/edge

Scroll down and click Download for iOS, proceed with the installation.

    I hope it solves.

    Hi,

unfortunately that didn‘t do the job. I also had another problem trying to download CSV files and importing them to an app.

Before I go into detail: Edge in iOS just can‘t handle downloads like Safari does. Thats the problem summarised.

Microsoft would have to adapt/improve the browser. But it seems like no one else is having these problems, so I don‘t think this is gonna happen. Besides, I found a quick fix for this issue: Deinstall Edge -although I really like it in general- and use Safari instead.

    Thanks for your help anyways.

    Kind regards.
