Since recent update 1903 or 1909 - every few restart I need to reinstall surface touch firmware. after a restart - all shows OK. after next restart device manager shows an error on surface touch firmware and I need to do a restart. Touch screen is fine but pen will link to Bluetooth.

Have updated to most recent firmeare from MS - lasted about 2 restart before problem returned. any ideas appreciated.

    Hello dolomitelbk,

Thank you for reaching out Microsoft Community. We really appreciate all the efforts that you did just to possibly resolve the issue.

For the meantime, please run**Surface Diagnostic Toolkit****.**It is a self-healing tool which looks for potential issues and fixes them, as well as ensures your device is completely up to date. Or manually check Windows Updates by going to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Updates > Check for updates.

if this wont work we will try to uninstall and reisnstall Touch fimware.

Start> Device manager> Firmware > select the touch firmware> right click and select uninstall > restart the Surface.

    Please keep us posted.

    Regards,

Unfortunately neither step provided much results ---- Diagnostic showed no problems. I did try re-installing driver  which I had previously tried - results was similar. Device Manger shows error - restart say installing system update. Event code show a 0x0 which by memory is an error of some sort. After update device manager show surface touch firmware fine. if I shut down or restart next startup device manager show update required. restart will correct again - "Groundhog Day" all over again. Touch screen works fine in any state of device manager. I can not get studio to enter tablet mode and pen will not install or even be recognized by Bluetooth.

Again system is Studio 1 w Windows 10 Pro - all updates installed. using a separate Dell wireless monitor w HDMI connection. Works OK.  All else seems fine --- although Bluetooth sometimes seems to drop out on keyboard --- with pen problem I am wondering if bluetooth could be problem but mouse works fine - wireless is fine.

my OS shows 18363.535 - the MS update on the link firmware is 18362 --- I tried anyway but not sure of difference. Unfortunately result is similar - The system is fine - Surface Touch - operating fine problem status - 0000000 has problem is <false>. after restart problem status is c00002d2 and has problem is <true>. notification is system install - restart required.

I have solved pen issue - amazing what a fresh battery will do.

any other suggestions appreciated. OS and Hardware all operating well - all diagnostics - no problems. It clear that something is triggering and error on restart ---

Any ideas  appreciate - thanks for your help - dolomitelbk

    Hi there, dolomitelbk!

We are glad that the pen issue has been solved. As for the errors you get, can you tell me the activity on your device when the error shows up?

Can you try running the Surface Diagnostic Toolkit for Business? Please make sure to select the file that says Surface_Diagnostic_Toolkit_for_Business_v2.46.139.0.msiwith 13.7MB file size.

If the issue still occurs, please Contact Surface warranty and software support for business for further assistance.

    Thanks for your patience!

    Regards,
