Call Only Ads

We have a call extension set to "Show Just The Phone Number" and device targeting set only to Smartphones. After the campaign ran for 2 days out of 100 clicks 2 went to the extension, and the rest to the website.

After 2 hours of "support" with 3 different reps, we are told that the phone extension just randomly shows up and there is no way to do Call Only Ads, even though the documentation says that the website won't be served on Mobile Phones.

Has anyone run into this?

    Hello Roman,

Thank you for using our Microsoft Advertising Community Forum!

I understand that you are inquiring about why you only received two clicks for the extension.

Even if an ad extension is eligible to serve, it's not always guaranteed to serve. Whether an extension serves depends on a number of factors. Here are a few listed below:

    • The relevance and quality of your ad
    • The relevance and quality of the extension data provided
    • Ad space availability on the page
    • User signals, like location, device used, etc.
    • Other extensions you enabled for your ad
    • Availability of extension data for competing ads

Best practice: Providing extension data allows our algorithms to evaluate all the possible layouts for your ad. It increases the chances of additional space being allocated and increasing clicks for your ad.

I hope the information provided here will at least partly answer your question.

If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to our support. I have also sent you a private message asking for further details. You are more than welcome to respond to me so that I can begin the investigation on my end.

    Kind regards,
